New Funding Options for Assistive Technology

SimplyHome believes it is crucial for individuals to have access to the technology that will improve their quality of life and create a new sense of freedom. The No Place Like Home program exists to ensure that people who do not qualify for typical sources of funding still get the tools they need to live independently.

No Place Like Home offers new and refurbished assistive technology to individuals with disabilities, veterans, and seniors aging in place. This program was founded by SimplyHome in partnership with Eblen Charities, a 501(c)3 organization based in Western North Carolina that provides resources to families in need.

The vision for No Place Like Home was sparked in 2011, when SimplyHome served as the Assistive Technology Expert on a life-changing episode of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. As CEO Allen Ray puts it, “We volunteered for a week and were changed for a lifetime.” When the SimplyHome team returned to Asheville, they wanted to give back to their own community.

How It Works

Individuals who wish to apply for funding for assistive technology can connect with SimplyHome by filling out the Request More Info form. SimplyHome will then begin an intake and assessment process, as we do with all prospective clients. If financial need is determined during the process, SimplyHome will connect the client to Eblen Charities. Once Eblen determines that an individual is eligible for funding assistance, then SimplyHome tailors the technology to the individual’s needs and goals.

How to Contribute
